Rohini Court Viral Video: Delhi HC Attaches Judge to Judicial Academy

The Delhi High Court has attached Rohini Courts’ District Judge Rakesh Kumar V to the Delhi Judicial Academy in a “diverted capacity”. This came as the aftermaths of a heated courtroom exchange that went viral on social media.
The widely circulated Rohini Court viral video allegedly showed a tense altercation between the judge and lawyers, including office-bearers of the Rohini Bar Association, during court proceedings. Reports indicate that the dispute escalated over a procedural request made during a hearing.
Judicial Work Withdrawn in Delhi Courts
As per the High Court’s administrative order, Judge Rakesh Kumar V has been relieved of regular judicial duties for the time being. Judicial officer Dheeraj Mittal, presently serving at the Delhi Judicial Academy, has been assigned charge of the Rohini court in question.
The decision also followed calls by Delhi District Bar Associations, to abstain from judicial work and seek action over the incident.
Judicial Association Condemns Rohini Court Viral Video
The Advocates across Delhi abstained from work across all District Courts. Meanwhile, the Judicial Service Association of Delhi strongly condemned the alleged recording and circulation of courtroom videos linked to the Rohini Court incident. In its statement, the association termed the act an attack on the “dignity, independence and majesty” of the judiciary.
The Delhi Judicial Service Association also extended solidarity to the judicial officer and urged the High Court to direct deletion of the viral clips from social media platforms.
